1. Open an Incognito/InPrivate window in your browser and go to https://portal.microsoftonline.com 

2. Enter your email address and password


 

3. Click “Get started” on the screen below

 

4. If you are setting this up from a personal computer or another non-NorthStar issued device, you will be prompted to install the Duo Desktop application to your computer. Click the “Download Duo Desktop” button then run the installer. The Duo Desktop icon will now be in your taskbar



 


 


5. Back in the browser click “Open the app”

 

6. From the “First, add a device” screen click the “Duo Mobile” button


 


7. Enter your mobile phone number then click “Continue” 


 


8. Verify your mobile number and click “Yes, it’s correct” 


 


9. On the “Confirm ownership” screen click “Send me a passcode” 



10. Enter the 6-digit code that was sent to your mobile number via text then click “Verify” 


 


11. On your mobile device download the “Duo Mobile” application from the Apple or 

Google App Store and click next

12. Open the Duo Mobile application on your mobile device and click “Continue” on the first screen followed by “Use a QR code” on the next screen  


13. Scan the QR code that is in your computer browser screen You may be prompted to allow access for the Duo Mobile app to use the devices camera to scan the QR code  


14. On your mobile device click “Next” then you can rename the account or use the default name that is provided then click “Save” 

 

15. Select “Skip”>“Allow notifications”>”Allow” to ensure Duo notifications are enabled 


16. Back on your computer click “Continue” on the confirmation screen 


 


17. Click “I don’t want to add more devices” and you have completed the Duo registration process
